Leading a dynamic quintet, Cuttill draws on the sounds of New Orleans and the Great American Songbook, blending original compositions with inventive arrangements inspired by artists including Louis Armstrong, Nina Simone and Randy Newman.
From swinging originals and blues-infused storytelling to her lyrical reimagining of Bobby Timmons' classic Moanin', the music balances humour, heart and strong melodic writing. Songs explore everything from the realities of life as a working musician to everyday anxieties, delivered with warmth, wit and an infectious sense of swing.
The project also reflects Cuttill's personal connection to jazz history, incorporating archival recordings of her late grandfather, jazz pianist Geoff Cuttill. A graduate of Leeds Conservatoire and an emerging voice on the UK jazz scene, Olivia Cuttill presents an evening of spirited, song-led jazz.
